Industrial Tour
Industrial visits help students to fill the gap between theoretical learning and practical implementation by allowing them to observe various engineering processes at work. Students visit GEMCO (General Electric Manufacturing Plant)at the completion of 6th semester of their undegarduate degree. This visit help students realize the lessons related to transformer design and analysis being taught in the course “Electrical Machine Design” at 6th semester. Students can learn about power plant generation and recognize the process units like boilers, pumps, turbines and generators by visiting the 105 MW HFO fired power plant at Shikalbaha, Chattogram at 8th semster. After completing the visit, a set of questionsrelated to the visited power plant are provided to the students. This set of questions aims to evaluate the student’s level of understanding of the fundamentals of power plant engineering. These interactions with industry develops leadership qualities andmanagement skills Industrial visits also encourage students to broaden their domain of learning outside academic requirements.Industry interaction is also helpful in updating the curriculum when there are significant changes in prevalent technologies; also, the faculty members get to know about the industry’s latest trends.
(Letter of Some Industrial Visit attached in Annexure 10.2)
